ABRAHAM LINCOLN

We do on stage things that are supposed to happen off. Which is a kind of integrity, if you look on every exit as being an entrance somewhere else.

The Player, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead

A film to mark the 150th
anniversary of President Lincoln’s death, featuring a poem I wrote in my
dressing room at the Kennedy Centre in Washington, D.C. during a performance of
Hamlet in 1998.

In 1984 I was in a production of Civil War songs and diary entries at Ford's Theatre. My final solo, Dixie, was sung standing (supposedly) on the spot where Booth broke his leg. The cast told me it was horribly bad luck, as that spot was supposed to make you dry. Never did, but then I never saw Booth's ghost there, either.
    Thanks for the lovely poem!
