A man is a bundle of relations, a knot of roots, whose flower and fruitage is the world. Ralph Waldo Emerson

A retrospective compilation of my production of Knots for the Actors’ Company in 1973, featuring some rare documentary and rehearsal footage and part of the original score:

Timberlake Wertenbaker’s translation of Sophocles’ Antigone premiered last week at Southwark Playhouse. Here is my Tiresias, in rehearsal and in performance:

But today, Sunday, I return to Sadler’s Wells, Coco and Paris in the 50s.

This Wednesday, 25th May, Edward will be a guest on BBC Radio 4’s Midweek, hosted by Libby Purves. He will be discussing his role in Antigone and his recently published book Slim Chances.

The programme airs from 9.00 to 9.45 a.m. If you’re unable to listen in at this time, or if you live outside the UK, you can ‘listen again’ on BBC iPlayer

My first experience watching you perform was as Lord Peter. As you left the prison speaking of how much fun you could have spending your days with Harriet, you gracefully vaulted over a post and finished playing hopscotch while telling us how much fun you could have at night. I can see after, viewing KNOTS, that your abilities started long ago. Thank you for posting this, it was wonderful to see yet another of your talents.
Enjoy your time on stage, you look wonderful.

Fascinating interview. "Absolute positions difficult to justify," and "wanting always to speak and never to listen…" witty and tender reflections on Antigone, theater directors and young and old artists.
Thanks for the broadcast, and to KR for letting us know how to access it from far away,

This is what happens when I don't check in regularly…the Knots video is blocked by EMI "on copyright grounds." I can see the sense of copyright, of course I can, but it does seem rather dog-in-the-mangerish sometimes when a large corporation prevents people seeing something from which it is deriving no useful revenue.

The new look is indeed very nice, and I have lots of catching up to do.

Aside from the storytelling involved with presenting the organizations case, I am interested in exploring with others the value of stimulating true storytelling in all of us, from when we are young people through the rest of out lives. This becomes the base in our ability to truly explain and excite others in our causes and what we are doing. This is basic to being able to our ability to lead others toward success at every level.

I wonder why chrome's compatibility with youtube still hasn't been fixed… As of now it's almost impossible to watch videos there, they stutter like crazy, the browser gets super-slow and the memory usage is at its tops… It's been months now…
